Tolujin Clearly from the same hugely talented ensemble but also a step on from 'Kurushimi' in terms of experimentation. There is slightly less of a jazz-improv feel here and more elements of collage (hence the cover art?), musique concrete and even turntablism. Bits of it remind me of Nurse With Wound. The musicianship is as breathtaking as ever and the recording manages to sound both intimate and cinemascopic at once. A real treat for the ears. Favorite track: Gambler's Death-Shuffle.

Chris Erised Giacca Zorn meets weeb-chic in this avant-garde look into the minds of musical geniuses. Equally good listening as background music, or actively engaged. Favorite track: Gambler's Death-Shuffle.

SM Living with my wife and two daughters I am routinely exposed to A LOT of pop music. Some of it doesn't bother me but a good majority of it makes my skin crawl. My only saving grace is music like this. With its jagged saxophone blasts, spastic drumming and sheets of noise, Kurushimi is the perfect antidote to pop music poisoning. Favorite track: Silent, As In A Crimson Sunrise.

Sydney's Kurushimi push the boundaries even further on their gripping new EP, Shōtotsu.

This deconstructionist noise-jazz ensemble disassembles and blends elements of improvised jazz, grind, hip hop, doom, noise, prog and more.

Think a monstrous fusion of Ornette Coleman, Morbid Angel, Bill Laswell, John Zorn and Bohren & Der Club Of Gore.
